Chelsea duo Florent Malouda and Claudio Pizarro have both stated their delight with the club's Premier League victory over Birmingham City.
Both scored on their league debuts in the 3-2 victory and are pleased with their own performances, in a hard-fought encounter at Stamford Bridge.
Malouda had previously netted for Jose Mourinho's side in their Community Shield defeat to Manchester United, but was unable to continue with the game after colliding with Edwin van der Sar in the aftermath.
"I think the team showed good spirit on the pitch and we are very happy to start the season with a victory here at Stamford Bridge," Malouda told the club's official website.
"Last week with the goalkeeper I couldn't continue the game, but this time I played on and I'm very happy."
Pizarro, a free transfer from Bayern Munich in pre-season, says he is hoping to establish himself in the starting line-up on a regular basis.
Andrei Shevchenko and Didier Drogba featured heavily up front for Chelsea last season, but Pizarro is hoping to upset the balance and wishes to feature in Mourinho's starting XI.
"I'm very happy after the game, it's very important to win three points. I think we play very good football, and in the next game I hope we play like this," Pizarro said.
"I'm trying to stay in the team, working very hard and hopefully in the next game I can play again.
"There is a lot of competition and that's normal because we are playing a lot of competitions here. We are all after the chance to play."
