Blackburn defender Ryan Nelsen accepts Mark Hughes could soon move on.
Blackburn defender Ryan Nelsen accepts he could soon be playing under a different manager, if Mark Hughes continues to do such a sterling job at Ewood Park.
The quiet but effective manner in which Hughes has built a talented side in the North West is thought to have impressed several of the Premiership's biggest clubs, with the former Wales chief linked with Chelsea, as talk of Jose Mourinho's possible departure refuses to be silenced.
Nelsen certainly believes Hughes is capable of doing a job in the highest echelons, and the big New Zealander accepts it would be a natural progression were he to move on to bigger things.
Hughes has also been mentioned in some quarters as being a possible candidate to return to Old Trafford, when Sir Alex Ferguson draws the curtain on his time in Manchester, but Nelsen is hopeful for the time being at least that the Welshman will remain at Blackburn.
"It doesn't surprise me at all that Mark is linked with Chelsea," he told the News of the World.
"I think it's just a matter of time. What he's done at Blackburn is fantastic, but he doesn't seem to get much credit for it.
"I wouldn't say we're resigned to losing him, because whatever happens will be his choice.
"But it's part of evolution, I suppose, when you do well. Mourinho said that Mark should have been Manager of the Year last year and I agree."
