Eidur Gudjohnsen has passed on his best wishes to former Chelsea team-mate Petr Cech.
The Czech keeper is recovering in hospital after suffering a fractured skull following a collision with Reading midfielder Stephen Hunt on Saturday.
Gudjohnsen, who left The Blues for Barcelona in the summer, returns to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday for the UEFA Champions League meeting between the two clubs.
"I speak to Frank Lampard and John Terry, but I haven't spoken to them after the injury of Petr Cech," Gudjohnsen told a press conference on Sky Sports News.
"I am hearing the news is very serious. I wish him all the best because he is a fantastic person and was a great team-mate of mine.
"I wish him well. I hope he recovers as quickly as possible.
"Petr Cech is very important for Chelsea, he is a fantastic keeper with a big presence. In saying that, I'm a big fan of Carlo Cudicini as well. He is an incredible goalkeeper for me and is in the top five in the world."
Having spent six years with Chelsea, the Iceland international admits any goal celebrations will be muted due to his affection for the club.
He added: "Of course it would make me very happy to score a goal, but I will try to celebrate, if that happens, with some respect for the Chelsea fans as well.
"To be honest, it's not something I'm preparing for, or thinking about. The main thing is to concentrate on the game, then we will see what happens."
