Wayne Bridge has vowed to fight Ashley Cole for the left back spot at Chelsea.
Bridge was relegated to the bench in midweek for The Blues' UEFA Champions League victory over Werder Bremen.
But Bridge, who competes with Cole at international level also, is determined to make sure he is not forgotten.
"I count myself as a fighter," Bridge told The Evening Standard.
"The way I have been playing, I have done enough to show I am good enough to play for Chelsea. I won't be happy unless I do.
"Hopefully, with what I've done in games and training, I will get a chance. If it doesn't work out then it doesn't."
Bridge has enjoyed a very good start to the season and the player admits he has done his best not to let Cole's move get to him.
"I got a lot of praise from people after the first three games, especially around the club," he continued.
"There was a lot of talk about Ashley but I just kept quiet and plugged away.
"It was an odd situation but I decided that what will be, will be.
"I didn't ask the manager about it and have kept my head strong."
