Jose Mourinho says he has been happy with his summer purchases, with a mixture of world class stars and promising youngsters arriving at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have taken a slightly different tack in their transfer strategy under Mourinho this summer, with firmly established international superstars Michael Ballack and Andrei Shevchenko arriving to take the London side onto another level.
However, the reigning Premiership champions have not strayed from their determination to secure the best up and coming talent, with Feyenoord forward Salomon Kalou and Nigerian midfielder John Obi Mikel both signings for the future.
The spending is unlikely to stop there, with both Ashley Cole and Gianluca Zambrotta targets for the left-back role, but Mourinho has highlighted the success of his recruitment drive so far.
"We've made some really top signings for next season, champions like Michael Ballack and Andrei Shevchenko," said Mourinho.
"They have great status which they will bring to our team of champions.
"But we also have young boys like Salomon Kalou and John Obi Mikel, players with big potential.
"I have also signed a top professional in goalkeeper Hilario who has a big history with me in Portugal."
Chelsea are firmly in the winning habit in The Premiership, but will be targeting a clean sweep of trophies in the coming season with European success still proving elusive for Roman Abramovich.
Now Mourinho has called on his multi-talented squad to take another leap forward in a bid to keep the Stamford Bridge trophy cabinet bulging.
"We are a team of champions and as champions we have high expectations at the start of every season," Mourinho added.
"We triumphed for the second time in The Premiership last season but we must keep moving on to the next level in everything we do.
"I have high hopes for the new season with two Premiership titles already ours.
"Including the FA Community Shield, we are playing for five trophies and we will always play to win every game.
"It isn't going to be easy, especially as the other teams will be chasing us."
