France Under-21 international Yoan Gouffran is expected to make a move to Ligue 1 to join Auxerre ahead of their European rivals.
The 20-year-old winger scored eight goals for Caen in Ligue 2 last season, and impressed at the European Under-21 Championship in Portugal.
Despite contact from giants Chelsea and Valencia, he looks set to opt for Auxerre though because of their reputation for youth development.
Gouffran came of age at the European tournament, scoring and celebrating his 20th birthday in an impressive 3-0 win against Germany.
The result all but guaranteed Les Bleus' qualification to the semi-finals, and highlighted the young man's potent talent.
He could now join international tournament team-mate defender Bakari Sagna at the Stade Abbe-Deschamps for the coming season.
