Chelsea striker Eidur Gudjohnsen says he does not mind playing in midfield for Jose Mourinho's side.

The Icelandic hit-man admits he is enjoying playing in a different role for the Premiership champions, even though it has reduced his goalscoring chances.

"It has felt like a natural development to move to midfield," Gudjohnsen told the Daily Mail.

"If there is a pass on, I will play it. Maybe I'm not selfish enough for a striker, but I enjoy football too much.

"I spoke to the manager after the season and asked: "Am I a midfielder or a striker?

"He replied: "You will be what I need you to be. I know you can do it"."

Another Blues striker that has started to settle in to life at Stamford Bridge has been Didier Drogba.

The Ivory Coast international admitted it has taken him time to adjust to life with the Premiership champions following his £24 million move from Marseille in July 2004.

"At first, I didn't digest the sudden transfer," Drogba explained to the Daily Telegraph. "But that was a perfectly natural reaction.

"I've worked really hard to get to where I am and now I want to enjoy every moment.

"Right from the kick-off of the new season, I felt right. I had a good rest this summer and my football has benefited.

"This is the most challenging but also exciting season of my career."
