Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has revealed he is making good progress following surgery during the close season.

The England international had a cyst removed from his foot which had been causing him discomfort last season.

Lampard admits the operation has prevented him from maintaining peak fitness, but insists it came with a silver lining as it allowed him a complete rest from the game.

The 27-year-old is now raring to get back training and believes any problems are now well and truly behind him.

"I have had no problems with it for the past month," he stated.

"It is all cleared up and I am ready to go.

"I am not quite 100 percent fit - but I am ready to go and get fit.

"This is about the longest break I have had since I have been playing football, so I am looking forward to getting training again."

Team-mate Ricardo Carvalho, who also went under the surgeon's knife to solve a shoulder complaint, is making steady progress too.
