Bridge assured over future

Chelsea defender Wayne Bridge has been assured that he has a future at Stamford Bridge despite reported interest in Real Madrid's Roberto Carlos.

Moneybags Chelsea are believed to be keen on recruiting Roberto Carlos from Madrid as they look to bring the world's best players to West London.

Should the Brazilian ace arrive in London it would cast a major doubt on Bridge's place, but new Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has informed him he is keen to keep him.

"I'm looking forward to next season and it was nice to meet him (Mourinho) before we went away," said Bridge.

"He was very positive and wants that to rub off on all his players. He wants to win things and the players are exactly the same - we want to be successful and believe we can be."

Mourinho is also reported to have blocked Joe Cole from possibly leaving on loan.

Cole has admitted he would interested in a loan move for regular first team football with Everton thought to be keen on the former West Ham star.

Mourinho wants to assess the whole squad before deciding what players he wants to keep and get rid off.
