Parma goalkeeper Sebastien Frey has confirmed that Chelsea are set to launch a bid for his services.

The French custodian has been in fine form for Parma this season, underlining his reputation as one of Serie A's top performers.

Frey admitted the planetfootball story about interest from Chelsea was accurate, and hinted that his Italian club may accept a sizeable offer.

"I know that Chelsea have moved for me," Frey told L'Equipe.

"I have talked with the board of Parma about it although, for the moment, I don't know exactly what Chelsea have proposed.

"I still want to play with Parma until the end of the season before I move, but I know that they need money.

"In football , things can change."

Chelsea may face competition from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich for the 23-year-old, but Frey appears to favour a move to England at this point.

"It [Chelsea] is the most exciting contact at the moment, although I am aware of the interest from Bayern," added the goalkeeper.

The current suggestion is that Chelsea will offer around £5 million and in-form Carlo Cudicini for Frey, a deal that is likely to tempt the Italian club.

However, Cudicini's agent Federico Pastorello insisted that he had not been contacted by Chelsea over the matter.

"I have had no news from Chelsea on that," said Pastorello. "I'm not sure that Chelsea want to sell Carlo.

"We will have to wait and see."
