WAYNE BRIDGE has completed his move to Chelsea, with Graeme Le Saux heading in the opposite direction to Southampton.

Saints reluctantly agreed to the sale of England international Bridge after he slapped in a transfer request, but they have offset the loss somewhat with the capture of Le Saux.

"It is a good career move, with Champions League football," Bridge told Chelsea TV.

"They are a club that can win things.

"Hopefully I can progress at this club and win medals and push even harder for an England spot.

"I had a chance to say goodbye to the staff and players at Southampton, but most people seemed pleased for me to move on.

"The move has been dragging on for while and now I just want to concentrate on playing."

Former Blackburn man Le Saux has signed a two-year deal at St Mary`s, while Bridge has committed his future to the West London outfit for the next five seasons.

After completing his move to the South Coast, Le Saux said: "I am very excited about this move. It is a great time to be joining the club.

"They had a fantastic season last time round with the FA Cup final and getting into Europe as well as finishing eighth.

"It all happened quite quickly but these things often do in football. As you get more experienced as a player you learn things can change very fast.

"Obviously there is a certain amount of sadness at leaving Chelsea after a total of 11 years and more than 300 appearances.

"But the flip side is the buzz and excitement of joining a club where I have always felt at home ever since I used to come over to soccer camps here when I was a young teenager.

"The club is probably in a better shape than at any time since then and I am really looking forward to being part of things here."
