JUVENTUS have reaffirmed their stance that Chelsea target Edgar Davids will not be leaving Stadio Delle Alpi during the summer.

Following Roman Abramovich's Stamford Bridge takeover last week, Dutch midfielder Davids emerged as a name on the Premiership side's shopping list.

Speculation in Italy suggested The Blues had lodged a ‚é¼16 million (£11 million) bid for the tigerish midfielder, who has just a year remaining on his Juve contract.

The Italian champions were quick to refute the reports that Davids would be offloaded to Chelsea during pre-season.

But Blues boss Claudio Ranieri fuelled the fires further on Monday by hinting Chelsea had submitted a bid for the Dutchman.

Juve general manager Luciano Moggi, though, is determined to have the last word on the saga and insists Davids is going nowhere.

"Davids has never been on the market and he never will be," vowed Moggi.

"The Dutch player stays and will stay at Juventus for his and our will.

"So the news created over this argument is absolutely groundless."
