The highly-rated defender was shown a straight red card just 26 minutes into the new season after a clash with Chelsea new boy Enrique de Lucas.
Referee Graham Barber felt Konchesky had led with his elbow in the challenge with De Lucas although Addicks boss Alan Curbishley is adamant the clash was not intentional.
"The video clearly shows that there was an accidental clash of heads between the two players, and at no time was an elbow involved," said Curbishley.
"Therefore we're asking the Football Association to take a look at the incident themselves."
If Barber or the FA refuse to overturn the red card, Konchesky will serve a three-match ban, ruling him out of the London derbies with West Ham and Arsenal and the clash with Aston Villa.
