ACCORDING to reports, Newcastle United have joined Chelsea in the running to sign Nottingham Forest starlet David Prutton.

Blues boss Gianluca Vialli has been a long-term admirer of the 18-year-old, who has just won his first call-up to the England Under 21 squad, but Bobby Robson watched him against Crystal Palace and this has alerted the Londoners once again.

Forest are believed to value their prize-asset at £5 million, and Chelsea are confident they will win the race, especially as Vialli is a good friend to City Ground boss David Platt.

Both Premiership clubs are scouring England for the brightest young talents and Prutton is definitely that, although he himself has admitted that he wants to concentrate on his Forest career.

"I'm just thinking about playing for Forest," said Prutton."I can't let other things effect me."
