Graham Hunter understands that Manchester United have made a £28.6m bid for Sergio Ramos and the player has told the club he wants to join the Red Devils.

Sky Sports' Graham Hunter explains the details after Sergio Ramos tells Real Madrid that he wants to leave the club after Man Utd make a £28.6m bid for the player.

The Spanish international has two years left to run on his contract but is keen to join Louis Van Gaal's side after 10 years at the Bernabeu.

“The player has made it very clear, has told Real Madrid directly, that he is absolutely and completely committed to leaving the club this summer," Hunter told Sky Sports News HQ.

"He specifically wants them to begin negotiations with Manchester United and that he doesn’t want them to negotiate with anyone expect Manchester United.”

Ramos is said to be frustrated that the club have not begun negotiations with him over a new deal amongst other things and has specifically asked Real Madrid to negotiate solely with United as he prepares to leave the Spanish capital.

Hunter also dismissed suggestions that the defender is simply using the Premier League side in a bid to be offered a more lucrative new contract with Los Blancos.

“People have been asking – legitimately in a transfer market where there can be labyrinthine twists, cynicism and self-interest can rule – particularly fans of Manchester United, ‘what are Sergio Ramos’ intentions? Is this this in anyway manipulative? Are Manchester United being used?’ he added.

"I think the important thing to emphasise tonight is that very well placed sources close to Sergio Ramos have assured Sky Sports News that Real Madrid have told him directly about a substantial and firm offer from Manchester United to Real Madrid of 40m euros for Sergio Ramos.

"That has triggered Ramos making completely clear to his current club that he wants to move to Old Trafford in this transfer market.”
