Wayne Rooney is hoping Roy Hodgson extends his England deal when the time comes for contract talks.
Hodgson's current contract is up after next summer's European Championship finals, and Football Association chairman Greg Dyke has made it clear no negotiations are imminent.
That stance is fine with Hodgson, who told the press at his Thursday briefing he and Dyke are "singing from the same hymn sheet", but his captain's opinion is clear.
"Since I've worked with Roy, he's been fantastic for me and the team," Rooney said while sitting alongside Hodgson. "Hopefully they'll sit down and sort it out and we'll have a few more years with him."
It will be "nine months to a year" before that sit-down happens, according to Dyke, and Hodgson is relaxed about that timescale.
"Absolutely," he said. "That's what we've been saying all along.
"At the moment, we've got an important task ahead of us - it's all very well to talk abut what England will do in France, but at the moment, we're not there. We've got six qualifiers to play and six matches still to win - that's a big enough challenge.
"I'm perfectly happy. What I've said all along when asked about my future is exactly what Greg's said, so it seems we're singing from the same hymn sheet on that."
