Sir Alex Ferguson says there is 'no chance' of Manchester United repeating last season's UEFA Champions League flop.
United crashed out of the competition in the group stage after suffering a shock defeat by Basel in their final match when a draw would have been enough to take them through.
The disappointment was compounded when the Swiss side were thrashed 7-0 by eventual runners-up Bayern Munich in the knockout stages.
However, Ferguson is confident a lesson has been learned from last term after admitting rotating his squad regularly 'backfired' on him.
Ferguson said: "That definitely won't happen next season - there is no chance of that.
"Over the last few years we have used the group stage as an opportunity to play the youngsters. But last season we changed the team too much and it backfired.
"Basel were just an ordinary team and they showed that when they played Bayern."
