Evra - We gave away title

But Frenchman thinks United will roar back next season

Patrice Evra thinks Manchester United gifted the Premier League title to Manchester City. The two derby rivals were ultimately separated by just goal difference after a thrilling conclusion to the season and a stunningly dramatic final day. City's incredible injury-time win over Queens Park Rangers ensured Roberto Mancini's squad snatched the title in the last seconds of the campaign. And Evra was left to rue the points United dropped in games such as the 6-1 derby humiliation by City, fixtures at home and away against Newcastle, the defeat by Wigan and failing to kill off Everton in a 4-4 draw.

Criticism

But the France international, who has been included in his country's initial squad for Euro 2012, thinks the signs are good for next season after a misfiring United ran City so close. The defender said: "We have given the title to City, but if we play well from the beginning to end, we will win the title back easily. "We received a lot of criticism this season, but we have got nine points better than last season. "City played their best football and we didn't always play our best football, but we still finished on the same points. "So it makes you think that if we play our best football consistently throughout the season, then we are going to win the league by many points."
