Man United chief insists City still have a long way to go

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson responded to Manchester City's first title since the 1960s by declaring it would take them other 100-years to emulate the Red Devils' success. Ferguson congratulated City on their first Premier League title, following the dramatic events on Sunday. But Ferguson insisted that they still have a long way to go before matching United's historical successes. "They can go on as much as they like. That's what you would expect. But the history of our club stands us aside," said Ferguson. "We don't need to worry about that. I think we have a rich history, better than anyone, and it'll take them a century to get to our level. "For us, it's a challenge - and we're good at challenges. We'll kick on from here." He added: "At the start of the season, if I remember correctly, I said 82 points would probably win the league this season and we are seven points ahead of that. But it doesn't matter. We've lost the league. "We've taken great credit. We've had a lot of injuries and changing the team around doesn't help to get a balance. But with Jonny Evans and Rio Ferdinand in form for a long period, we were better and better."
