United defender urges brother to beat City with QPR
QPR defender Anton Ferdinand has revealed brother and Manchester United defender Rio has phoned him urging Rangers to upset leaders Manchester City on Sunday.
But the 27-year-old is more concerned with the Hoops' own plight as they strive to beat the drop ahead of Bolton.
Mark Hughes' men sit two points clear of the Premier League relegation places and will need to take something from their Etihad Stadium clash if the Trotters win at Stoke.
If QPR cause City to drop points it would give United a chance to clinch the title against Sunderland and Anton says his brother has urged him to make it happen with the Hoops.
He said: "Rio's been on the phone asking for a favour.
"But it's about us. I'm concentrating on QPR as we have a massive job to do for ourselves.
Faith
"We've got to go there and get a point, if not three. I have faith in my team-mates that we could possibly do that.
"If we do get a result and United and Rio go on to win the title, then I will be chuffed for him.
"If they don't win it but we stay up I will be very, very happy."
Ferdinand knows Sunday's encounter could be decisive for the Hoops and insists they are desperate to win.
Cost-cutting measures are expected to be taken in the summer if QPR go down, with careers at Loftus Road resting on whether or not the club stays in the top-flight.
"City have so much riding on it - but so have we," added Ferdinand. "This game determines whether people keep jobs or not at our club.
"We have to make sure every single person keeps their job for next season."
