Skysports.com understands Watford are poised to sign Manchester United youngster Danny Drinkwater on loan.
United recalled Drinkwater from his loan spell at Cardiff earlier this week after he struggled to feature regularly for the Bluebirds.
The 20-year-old made only 12 appearances for Cardiff and United decided to recall him so they could loan him out to another club as they want him to be playing regularly so that he can get valuable first-team action under his belt.
A number of Championship and League One clubs are thought to have expressed an interest in signing Drinkwater, but it appears Watford have won the race for the England youth international.
Watford enjoyed a massive success in loaning Tom Cleverley from United last season and Sir Alex Ferguson feels Vicarage Road is the right move for the highly-rated Drinkwater.
Hornets boss Malky Mackay is keen to bolster his young squad and he sees Drinkwater as a key addition as they look to maintain their push for promotion.
