Striker wants keeper to stay put.

Rangers striker James Beattie wants team-mate Allan McGregor to remain at the club, despite the reported interest of Manchester United. McGregor has been in fine form for both club and country this season, which has seen him linked with a possible move. But Beattie wants his club to do all they can to keep hold of him. "Allan is a fantastic goalkeeper and he's a great lad as well," Beattie said. "I'm not surprised he is getting interest from top clubs like Manchester United. "It's very important for us to keep hold of our best players. That's up to the board and Allan himself. "If he keeps performing as he is, superbly all the time, he is going to create interest. It's up to the club to keep him and for him to keep his head right."

Deserved

Beattie did acknowledge that the interest shown in the keeper was well-deserved. "He's right up there. When I first came in, I didn't really know him but I get on really well with him," he added. "His performances in training and in games are fantastic. He is gaining interest and it's well-deserved."
