Summer signing Bebe played his first game for Manchester United on Thursday evening - but ended up on the losing side.
The shock £7million signing from Vitoria Guimaraes was in action for United's reserve side as they were beaten by Aston Villa.
Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson had not called on Bebe for second string duty prior to the international break as he wanted the young forward to work on his fitness.
However, with two weeks' more training and a couple of matches for the Portugal Under-21 side behind him, Bebe faced Villa's reserves.
He regularly swapped flanks with Gabriel Obertan and produced some dangerous crosses during his 90 minutes of action.
But it was Villa winger Barry Bannan who stole the show with a hat-trick as Ciaran Clark got the visitors' other goal, while Nicky Ajose netted for United.
