Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has spoken of his delight at midfielder Paul Scholes' return to fitness.
The 34-year-old schemer has been sidelined with a knee ligament injury sustained back in September.
However, he recently returned to training and is in contention to feature in the Carling Cup clash against Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday night.
Ferguson told the club's official website: "I have Paul Scholes in mind. He is on the verge of playing again following his knee injury and operation. He is training well and is chomping at the bit to get started.
"So a place on the bench with perhaps a few minutes' pitch time could be good for him. We'll see how things go."
The Scot added in The Sun: "It is a great boost for us to have Paul back as he is such a top-quality player."
