Former Holland goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar has insisted he has no regrets about retiring from international football.
The Manchester United shot-stopper called time on his career with Oranje after their quarter-final exit at Euro 2008 this summer.
Van der Sar watched on as Holland overcame Macedonia in their recent World Cup qualifier and, while the 37-year-old admits he was not used to the two-week rest, he stands by his decision to step down from the international stage.
He said: "Normally you go from game to game and suddenly I have had two weeks without one, so I have been twiddling my thumbs a little bit.
"It was a little bit strange to see Holland playing and not be involved.
"I know the whole routine. What time to get up, what time to go on the bus, what time to warm up.
"But I don't have any regrets. I did my thing for 14 years and I am quite happy to focus on United."
