Jonas Gutierrez has warned Newcastle's defenders to pay special attention to Carlos Tevez.
The Magpies open their Premier League campaign against defending champions Manchester United on Sunday and Gutierrez is in line for his competitive debut.
Sir Alex Ferguson's side will be without Cristiano Ronaldo through injury and Wayne Rooney is doubtful as he recovers from a virus.
Gutierrez, who joined Newcastle from Real Mallorca earlier in the summer, has played with Tevez at international level.
And he believes his fellow Argentine will be the major threat at Old Trafford this weekend.
"I am friends with Carlos and we will talk this week before the game," Gutierrez told nufcTV.
"He's a very good player and our defenders will have to pay a lot of attention because he can score a goal at any moment.
"There are many good players in the Manchester United team but Carlos is playing very well and had a great season last time."
