Midfielder hails Red Devils' talent

Paul Scholes believes Manchester United's strength in depth could be key to their double dream. The Red Devils face Liverpool on Grand Slam Sunday looking to strengthen their position at the top of the Premier League table. And Sir Alex Ferguson's men have been drawn to face Roma in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League as they chase further silverware on the continent. Last season, United claimed the Premier League title, but were knocked out of Europe's leading club competition by eventual winners Milan in the semi-finals as a series of injuries hampered Ferguson's options.

Talent

But this time, former England international Scholes believes they have the squad to challenge for glory at home and abroad. He told the Daily Express: "It's a massive squad now and the great thing is that there isn't much, if any, difference in overall talent no matter who is on the pitch. "Whatever team the manager picks is capable of winning. "The squad is definitely bigger and stronger than last season. When you look back at the last six weeks of last season, I'm sure it was pretty much the same team that played every week. "No doubt that cost us in the Champions League because we were lacking freshness. "This year, hopefully we can steer clear of injuries, then the manager will be able to rotate things more and freshen the team up when needed - and that could make a real difference to us."
