Patrice Evra has backed Lyon striker Karim Benzema to become one of the greats of French football.
The Manchester United full-back was a helpless spectator as the 20-year-old powered the Ligue 1 giants into a UEFA Champions League lead during the 1-1 draw between the two sides at Stade Gerland on Wednesday night.
Already a full international, Benzema's impressive return of 20 goals in 30 appearances this season has unsurprisingly grabbed the attention of a host of Europe's top clubs.
United are just one of the sides reported to be lining up a summer move for the starlet, and his international team-mate Evra full expects the striker to go on and achieve enormous success in the future.
"Benzema is not as well known across Europe as he is in France, but (Sir Alex) Ferguson told us to be wary of him before the game," he told L'Equipe.
"The manner in which he took his goal has shown that he is really strong and a huge talent.
"It is important not to build him up too much in order to keep his feet on the ground, but after (Zinedine) Zidane he could go on to be one of the greatest French players."
