Sir Alex Ferguson is hoping to have Park ji-Sung back at his disposal in the not too distant future.
The South Korean midfielder has been sidelined since suffering a serious knee injury back in March.
Park travelled to America in the summer for career-saving surgery and it looks as though he is making excellent progress.
Ferguson claims the player could even had played some part in United's UEFA Champions League game with Roma on Wednesday, had he been registered for European competition.
Ahead of schedule
"I'm hoping that we get Park back soon," said Ferguson.
"He played in the practice game on Sunday and was absolutely outstanding.
"I hadn't registered him for Europe at the start of the season because we didn't think he would be back until January with his injury.
"I didn't register him, otherwise I would have taken him to Rome and he would have played.
"I've got the bonus of him coming back into the fold. We want to probably get a reserve game for him next week and then he can play in the first team any time."
