Ron gets Pedersen's vote

Morten Gamst Pedersen believes Cristiano Ronaldo deserves to be player of the year.

Blackburn's Morten Gamst Pedersen believes Cristiano Ronaldo deserves to be player of the year.

The Portuguese ace has taken the Premiership by storm this season and helped keep Manchester United on track for a Treble.

Pedersen comes up against the United star at Old Trafford on Saturday with Mark Hughes' men determined to keep him in check as they aim to maintain their own push for a place in Europe.

But the Norwegian has nothing but admiration for the United winger.

"He is a fantastic player," said Pedersen.

"He has skill, pace, everything; he is a player who can win a game for Manchester United, as he has done lots of times this season.

"I would say he is the best player in the league at this moment - player of the year, and he has certainly got my vote.

"But we have stopped him before and we can do it again."

Blackburn were the only team to do the double over Sir Alex Ferguson's side last season, with Pedersen scoring both goals in a 2-1 win at the 'Theatre of Dreams'.

"Manchester United is a big club, so to score twice there and win makes it one of the highlights of my career - it would be strange if it wasn't," he added.

"That was a really good experience last year, for me, the club, fans, everybody, and hopefully I can have another impact on this game.

"I want to do the same this year, and if I get a chance to score again, I'm not going to say `no'."
