Marco van Basten is optimistic Edwin van der Sar will be fit for Holland's Euro 2008 qualifier with Slovenia.

Van der Sar has been brought back into the squad for Wednesday's game after missing the 0-0 draw with Romania on Saturday.

The Manchester United keeper has been struggling with a calf injury and saw Maarten Stekelenburg take his place at the weekend.

But Dutch coach Van Basten appears confident that his first choice keeper will be fit to start against Slovenia.

"It will become clear over the next couple of days whether Edwin will play," said Van Basten.

"He trained on Saturday, but not with the rest of the players.

"If we didn't think he had a chance of playing we wouldn't have included him in the squad."
