Manchester United youngster Adam Eckersley is to join Barnsley on loan until the end of the season.
The England youth international will link up with the Championship side at the start of next week once the paperwork has been completed.
Eckersley has previously had loan spells abroad with Royal Antwerp and Brondby but is yet to force his way into Sir Alex Ferguson's plans.
He joins Barnsley in search of regular first-team football and manager Simon Davey is thrilled with the capture.
"To sign a player with Adam's pedigree is always a coup for any club and he will bring a lot of quality to our squad," Davey told the club's official website.
"He has spent time on loan with Royal Antwerp and Brondby and is a player I have admired for a while and comes very highly recommended by Sir Alex Ferguson.
"Adam is very highly thought of at Manchester United."
