Derby could face competition from NEC Nijmegen for the permanent signing of David Jones.
Jones joined Derby last week on loan from Manchester United with a view to a permanent move.
However, NEC are ready to rival Derby for Jones' signature after the midfielder enjoyed a successful loan spell at the Dutch club last season.
NEC technical director Leen Looyen revealed he is still in contact with Jones and is hopeful of luring him back to Holland.
Looyen told De Gelderlander: "I am still in contact with David Jones in order to retain the possibility of bringing him to NEC," Looyen told De Gelderlander.
"He has provisionally opted for Derby County, who are prepared to pay é¼1.7 million (£1 million) for him."
