Lee Martin is a major doubt for Rangers' Uefa Cup trip to Livorno with a knee injury.

The teenager is in the middle of a loan spell at Rangers from Manchester United, but he is being plagued by a knee injury which has prompted him to head back to Old Trafford for assessment.

And Gers chief Paul Le Guen is not confident of having Martin available for the trip to Italy next week.

"Lee Martin has a problem with his knee which is a bit worrying and it leaves us short of wingers," Le Guen told Rangers World.

"It is bad luck, but we must keep our head up and keep working.

"Lee will see the Manchester United doctor today. He has been troubled by this for three weeks after taking a knock on his knee and I am a little bit worried by this.

"Our doctor will work in conjunction with Manchester United and hopefully we can find a solution."
