Shrewsbury insist Everton and Man United have not enquired about Dave Edwards.
Shrewsbury Town boss Gary Peters insists Everton and Manchester United have not enquired about Dave Edwards.
Reports have suggested the Premiership duo are keen on the Wales Under-21 international, with United set to bid £500,000.
The Red Devils are also purported to be looking at the midfielder on trial over the next fortnight before firming up their interest.
But Shrews boss Peters has close links with both top-flight clubs and has stated there has been no contact concerning the highly-rated 20-year-old.
"If there is any truth in it all then no one has contacted me, which I would find strange," Peters told the club's official website.
"I've done a lot of work with Manchester United with a number of players and have dealt closely with them. If there is any interest from Manchester United someone would call me.
"I also go to all Manchester United reserve games at Hyde and talk to the people who run the reserves and youth department and no one has ever mentioned Dave Edwards' name.
"Everton is even more of a surprise because David Moyes is a mate of mine and we talk on a regular basis. He's never mentioned Dave Edwards' name either.
"When I was working for Everton I came to watch Dave Edwards myself, that's when Shrewsbury were still in the Conference and Jimmy Quinn came on and played up front. That's the last time Everton looked at Dave Edwards.
"I've got no knowledge of this, sometimes these things are just newspaper talk, but if something is being done then it's through a different route as no one has talked to me about it."
