Lyon have emerged as the latest suitors for Carlos Tevez according to reports from the French press.
The talented Argentina international looks all set to turn his back on South America and move to Europe after falling out with his Brazilian club Corinthians.
Tevez has spoken of a desire to try his hand in one of Europe's top leagues, with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United both mooted as rivals for his signature.
The diminutive front man showed tantalising glimpses of his undoubted talent in Germany and it is such a promise that has also reportedly caught the attention of Real Madrid and Roma, with the latter reportedly in talks with the player's agent Adriano Ruocco.
While Lyon boss Gerard Houllier would be keen to work with the player, even if it was initially courtesy of a loan switch, Tevez is reported to be reticent to move to Ligue 1 as he has a preference for both Spain and England - after Rennes were also linked with a possible move.
Lyon have also been linked with Real Betis winger Joaquin but it is widely expected that he will stay in Spain and sign for Valencia before Thursday's transfer deadline.
Meanwhile, France international Benoit Pedretti looks like he could be on his way out of Lyon following the champions' signing of Alou Diarra.
Pedretti has failed to ever convince since arriving at Stade Gerland from Sochaux and could now leave the club on loan.
"Benoit Pedretti has asked to meet with me and I told him if (Mahamadou) Diarra was replaced then the door would be opened for him for a loan deal," said Lyon boss Gerard Houllier.
"He has shown a good spirit, the right attitude and we will keep it in mind."
