Louis Saha has backed Manchester United team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo to handle any abuse from opposition fans this season.
Ronaldo has found himself public enemy number one in England following his exploits at the World Cup with Portugal.
The skilful winger was given a rough ride on Tuesday in his first appearance back in England during United's friendly win at Oxford United.
Ronaldo responded to the criticism in style with two goals and Saha is confident the Portuguese star is big enough to cope with the abuse.
"We expect some players like Cristiano are going to get some stick," said Saha.
"The only thing he can do is show his quality.
"At least the United fans supported him on Tuesday, so that is good."
United defender Mikael Silvestre believes Old Trafford supporters will get behind Ronaldo and stick by him.
"I am sure Cristiano will continue to have great support," said Silvestre.
"The fans have always got behind players who have had a hard time and I am sure it will be the same with him."
