Gerard Houllier says he will not sell Mahamadou Diarra nor buy Real Madrid striker Ronaldo in the summer.

The Lyon coach spoke to RMC about transfers in the close season after wrapping up the Ligue 1 title.

Diarra is a target for Manchester United, Real Madrid and Milan while Ronaldo has indicated that a move away from Real could be on the cards after criticism from the Bernabeu supporters.

A number of clubs may be willing to break the bank for the impressive midfielder but Houllier wants Diarra to remain at Stade Gerland.

"I won't let Diarra leave," he stated on the radio station. "I am totally opposed to his departure.

"We have a lot of top-class players, that is why some want to sign elsewhere - in order to play more."

The former Liverpool boss joked that Ronaldo would have to get into better shape if he is to emerge as a viable target.

"Ronaldo? He is too heavy to play for Lyon!" said Houllier.
