The John Obi Mikel saga shows few signs of coming to and end following a fresh statement from his solicitors.Sir Alex Ferguson rekindled the debate over the Nigerian's future on Friday when stating that he still wanted the 18-year-old at Old Trafford.
Fifa are still probing Mikel's proposed transfer to Manchester United from Lyn, as the player claims he was duped into signing for The Red Devils and now wants to move to Chelsea - who have tracked the player for a number of years.
Following Ferguson's statement, Mikel reacted himself in an interview - and now his legal team have issued a new press release.
"Mikel wishes to reiterate that whatever Sir Alex Ferguson, for whom he has the utmost respect, may think, his wish is to play for Chelsea," said the statement issued on behalf of Mikel by London-based solicitors Russells.
"Hopefully, Sir Alex and Manchester United will now respect and accept that decision so that a resolution to this matter can finally be found."
