Ole Gunnar Solskjaer feels Giuseppe Rossi has the potential to become a Manchester United great.

The diminutive Italian has been nurtured by Sir Alex Ferguson since the Scot prised him from Parma in the summer of 2004.

The Scot is still keeping the American-born forward on the leash, but he was let loose against Burton in the FA Cup and advertised his qualities with a fantastic all-round display which brought two goals.

Solskjaer was alongside Rossi in the 5-0 mauling of Burton as he continues his comeback from injury and the Norwegian striker feels his team-mate has the qualities to thrive at Old Trafford.

"He is a great talent and has great potential," Solskjaer told Sky Sports News.

"He is one of the better finishers I have seen at such a young age, as he thinks about scoring goals before he gets the ball.

"He has got a great football brain and knows about football.

"He keeps working hard and his work-rate is tremendous."
