Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre has claimed that Arsenal's current side is the worst Gunners team he has come across.

The Frenchman launched the scathing attack after coming through the 0-0 draw against Arsene Wenger's men last week without too many alarms.

"The team we played against the other night was the worst Arsenal team of recent years," Silvestre commented.

"They were nothing like the team that dominated the league just two years ago.

"They created fewer chances than I can ever remember and that has got to be bad news for them."

Silvestre feels that Manchester United should have won the game at Highbury, while pinpointing Patrick Vieira's absence in midfield as the major reason for Arsenal's dip in form this season.

"I was very frustrated with the draw, it was definitely two points lost and not one gained for us. That's the feeling we had in the dressing room after the game.

"The absence of Vieira and the fitness problems Henry is having are certainly affecting Arsenal. They're just not the same team.

"Fabregas is a great prospect but he is no Vieira. He was more than half the Arsenal team and they really miss him.

"He was the one who took control when things got tough. It's his character that makes him one of the best players in the world."
