Reports in Norway say that Sir Alex Ferguson has travelled to Oslo for talks with Lyn to insist Manchester United still want John Obi Mikel.

The teenage African has become the centre of a long-running battle between United and Chelsea, who both want him to sign.

Mikel did sign for The Red Devils back in April but then said he was forced into the move and really wanted to go to Jose Mourinho's Chelsea.

Fifa are now investigating the matter but Ferguson held talks in Oslo with Lyn director Morgan Andersen to discuss their arguments to put to the Fifa probe.

"We have an agreement with Lyn, have followed John Obi Mikel for three years and still want him to come to Manchester United," Ferguson was quoted as saying in VG.

The 18-year-old has only just returned to Lyn after going missing during the affair, but his future should be sorted out soon after Fifa's investigation.

Ferguson seems keen to keep hold of the man they thought they had signed back in April, and is pressing hard to ensure they do not lose out to Premiership rivals Chelsea.
