Chesterfield have boosted their backline with the signing of Manchester United starlet Phil Picken.
The 19-year-old (pictured) has joined the League One club on loan until the end of the year and will be available for the club's trip to Oldham Athletic on Saturday.
Picken, who can play at right back or in midfield, made 23 starts for United's reserves last season after signing professional terms with the Premiership giants in July 2004.
The teenager enjoyed a successful spell with the reserves last term as United's second XI won four trophies - including the inaugural play-off final of the FA Premier Reserve League.
The Manchester-born player arrives at Saltergate to fill a void left by early-season injuries to Alex Bailey, Aaron Downes and Gareth Davies in Roy McFarland's squad.
"We are pleased that Manchester United's Phil Picken is joining us, as he will give our injury-hit squad a welcome boost," said Spireites assistant manager Lee Richardson.
