Kieran Richardson has spurned the chance to re-join West Brom in favour of staying and fighting for his place at Manchester United.

Manager Bryan Robson was keen to lure him back to The Baggies following the 21-year-old's successful stint at The Hawthorns last season.

However, Richardson, although flattered, has decided to remain at Old Trafford and help The Red Devils win the Premiership title.

Richardson proved a key signing on loan for Robson last term when his goals not only helped keep West Brom up, but also landed him a place on England's end of season tour of the United States.

"Everyone wanted to know whether I was going back to West Brom or not but I have decided to stay at Manchester United," Richardson told Sky Sports News.

"It was flattering to have the choice. I did well at West Brom and I enjoyed my time there.

"I owe Bryan Robson a lot because he took a gamble on me when I didn't have a great deal of experience.

"I know he wanted me to go back but I want to make it at Manchester United and be a Manchester United player. Hopefully I can do that this season."
