Eagles lands at Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday have completed the loan signing of Chris Eagles.

Sheffield Wednesday have completed the loan signing of Manchester United youngster Chris Eagles.

The Red Devils reserve spent some of last season with Watford and Sir Alex Ferguson has allowed him to move to Yorkshire until the end of 2005.

Ferguson had stressed he would farm out more of his players this term after scrapping one of United's reserve teams and Eagles is still some way short of being in contention for a first team spot.

The midfielder played in last year's pre-season tour of the United States but made only fleeting appearances during the 2004/2005 campaign, including in the forgettable goalless draw with Exeter City in the FA Cup.

Wednesday manager Paul Sturrock managed to fend off competition to land the 19-year-old, as he was also linked with a move to Charlton Athletic.
