Atletico aware of Utd interest

Manchester United are scouting Atletico's Spain international Pablo Ibanez.

Atletico Madrid are aware of Manchester United's interest in star man Pablo Ibanez, but insist that only a bid of around £20 million could persuade them to part with the defender.

The Spain international has been scouted several times by United, with Sir Alex Ferguson's brother Martin watching a whole host of top Spanish stars.

Villarreal's Jose Reina, Ivan De La Pena of Espanyol, Racing Santander's Mario Regueiro and Anderson Silva, and Sevilla's Sergio Ramos have all been eyed by Ferguson - but it is Ibanez that has caught the most attention.

United have not made formal contact over the player, but the club's director of sport Toni Munoz confirmed that they were aware of interest.

"We know about the rumours and there have been scouts from England present at several games," Munoz told skysports.com.

"Officially, we have had absolutely no contact.

"Pablo is intransferable because any club interested in his services would have to pay ‚é¼30 million - that is his value."

Ibanez himself insists that he is firmly concentrating on his current side, and not considering rumours about his future.

"I have seen the news in the papers, but I am calm and happy at Atletico Madrid," said Ibanez.

"These rumours are not news to me. When I played at Albacete, I was wanted by Italian sides, and now I am wanted by English sides.

"I don't really take much notice, and my future depends on Atletico Madrid."
