Rotherham United are hoping to pip an unknown Dutch club to the signing of Manchester United rookie David Fox.

The midfielder is linking up with The Millers on Tuesday to train with The Championship's bottom club this week.

But an unnamed club in Holland are also keen to put the 21-year-old under the microscope in a trial.

Millers manager Alan Knill confirmed Fox is coming to the club and he will look for a deal if the youngster impresses.

"We have got him here for a few days so that we can take a look at each other," Knill told the club's official website.

"He is the type of player we have to be assessing when you consider the age of many of our current players.

"David is also intending to spend a few days with a Dutch club so we are hoping that he will want to stay with us if we feel he is what we are looking for after his trial."

Fox has yet to make his first team debut with The Red Devils, although he has been a regular figure in the reserve side.

He spent a month on loan at Shrewsbury Town earlier in the season, scoring once in five appearances, and will be hoping to gain more experience at Millmoor.
