The opening salvo in the summer battle for Belgian starlet Vincent Kompany looks to have come from Juventus.

The Italian giants are understood to have had a bid of ‚é¼6 million, plus either Marcelo Zalayeta or Igor Tudor, rejected by Les Mauves.

Anderlecht are looking for a fee in excess of ‚é¼15 million for Kompany, who looks highly likely to depart The Constant Vanden Stock Stadion this summer.

Since making his debut aged just 17 in 2003, the classy central defender has attracted interest from a host of clubs and both Chelsea and Manchester United have appeared close to landing him at different points over the last two years.

North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham have also scouted him closely over the past 12 months.

However, Kompany is by no means destined for England as all of Europe's top clubs are keen.

Juve's interest is obviously apparent, but Internazionale were very keen last summer and are likely to be gearing up for a renewed bid this summer - while Milan cannot be discounted according to reports in Belgium.

If the interest from The Premiership and Serie A was not enough, both Real Madrid and Barcelona stated their fondness of the player only last month.

Kompany is now likely to have his pick of clubs this summer and much will depend on his own personal preference.

The Belgian international is currently finishing his studies and has admitted he will only leave Brussels when he passes his exams, meaning he may yet stay for another 12 months.
