Republic of Ireland boss Brian Kerr has revealed that he is considering using John O'Shea in a midfield role against France at the weekend.
Kerr takes his side to Paris on Saturday and could employ O'Shea alongside Manchester United team-mate Roy Keane in Ireland's engine room.
O'Shea made his name at Old Trafford as a defender but has predominantly been used in a more advanced role this term.
Kerr concedes that the player's performance this season in an unaccustomed role has not gone unnoticed.
''It looks as though John is going to be playing there a lot more for United,'' said Kerr.
''Now that he's been playing so well in central midfield, it's given me something to think about.''
