MANCHESTER UNITED star Juan Sebastian Veron has pledged his immediate future to the Old Trafford club but refused to rule out a move back to Italy at some point in his career.

The 28-year-old had been linked with a move to Italian giants Internazionale but following comments from his agent Fernando Hidalgo that there had been no contact between the two clubs, the player himself has now moved to put an end to the speculation.

He said: "Right now my thoughts are of United and my aim is to improve my game.

"I know that one day I will return to play Italian football but I am not planning to do so for the time being."

Veron's agent said that his client intended to honour the three years that he still has remaining on his current contract.

The confusion was caused because the Argentinian had stated that he wanted to return to Italy after his contact expired and certain sections of the media interpreted that as being a desire to leave Old Trafford.

Now both player and agent have put the record straight.
